Skin Needling

Skin Needling used to be known as CIT (Collagen Induction Therapy). However, now it is famous for so many other benefits apart from stimulating collagen production such as acne, pigmentation and scar treatments, 

 

Skin Needling, alternatively called MTS (Microneedling Therapy System), involves the use of very fine and sterile needles to glide over the skin to improve skin health. The microchannels created in the skin allow better absorption of products, 

Facial Treatment

What to Expect

During the treatment, we may or may not put numbing cream to provide a more comfortable experience (Please discuss with your therapist your preference). Then we use a skin needling pen to create microchannels and infuse your skin with hydrating agents into the dermal layer of your skin. You may have some redness which should disappear within 1-3 days. Otherwise there is no downtime for this treatment.

Before Treatment

  • Avoid alcohol 48 hours before the appointment.

  • Avoid taking Aspirin or anti-inflammatory medication (Voltaren, Nurofen) for 5-7 days prior to appointment

  • Avoid taking fish oils, evening primrose oil, garlic, echinacea, St Johns wort, Vitamin E for 5-7 days before appointment

  • Not suitable for anyone pregnant.

After Treatment

  • Swelling and tenderness may be present for 24-48 hours

  • Avoid touching your face for at least two hours to allow the face to heal over and to avoid introducing external infection

  • Don't wash your face the day of the treatment and continue to use products recommend by the therapist.

  • Some bruising may occur during the treatment. It should settle in a few days depending on the individual.

  • Avoid exposure to prolonged sunlight, rigorous exercise, saunas, hot baths and excessive amounts of alcohol, as this will increase the swelling and the possibility of bruising.
